Presentation

Following queries regarding the works seen by residents and the lack of notification Virgin MediaO2 were invited to present their recent works in the area.
Jane Welsh, local Community Lead from Virgin Media introduced herself and her two colleagues, Lee
White (Civil Builds Supervisor) from partner company, United Living Connected and Roger Walkington
(Principal Delivery Engineer) from Virgin Media. Jane gave an overview of the Chester Build programme
explaining that Virgin Media is part of the Nextfibre venture which is investing £4.5bn to bring full fibre to
rural and semi-rural areas. It is using XGSPON technology, which means customers will have the ability
to upload as quickly as they download. She explained that there are three methods to bring the network
into properties:- using existing Poles; using Physical Infrastructure Access Duct or Self-Build, and in the
slideshow, a map of Chester illustrated the areas where the 3 methods have been used. Their
preference is to use poles rather than digging up pavements/highway. The map of Christleton showed
sections coloured green which represents the wayleave areas that require permission from all
homeowners for the installation of the infrastructure. If one homeowner in a road objects, for various
reasons, then that affects the rest of the properties.
Jane finished by apologising for the lack of communication about the recent works in the Village.
There are no more planned works for Christleton at
the moment but residents who wish to find out further works please visit https://one-network/
