Public Forum Tractors and Trees – April 2025

One member of the public who lives on Plough Lane expressed her deep concern and distress at
the felling of a Pin Oak tree at Whychwood which neighbours her property. The Pin Oak was
subject to a Planning Appeal and the Planning Inspector gave the local Planning Authority 2 days
to locate the TPO. Unfortunately, this was not located in time and felling went ahead. The
neighbour was told that the Planning Inspectorate is not required to notify neighbours of their
decision and would also not be required to consider the risk of subsidence to neighbouring
properties. The Chair suggested that the resident make a complaint and ask for financial
compensation to the Local Authority and if that is refused then take this up with the Local
Government Ombudsman. Cllr John Beckitt will raise this issue with Kathy McArdle, CWaC
Executive Director of Place & Growth at their forthcoming meeting on 22/4/25.
The second resident, also of Plough Lane, raised the issue of very large tractors driving the lanes
around the village, damaging the road surface and potentially breaking the speed limit. It has
also been noted that they have left slurry and lime on the sides of the local lanes. Cllr John
