Traffic & Safety Updates – December’24

a) To receive update on Traffic Issues

Collision risk in front of High School
A student narrowly missed being hit by accelerating car exiting Rowton Bridge Road. CWaC Highways have responded to this incident in light of a similar incident which resulted in a fatality at another High School. Cllr Beckitt is meeting with Highways to discuss improvements including elements of the PLANIT (pedestrian/cycle priority) road scheme for Rowton Bridge Road.

Bridge Drive
The PCSO will mail all residents adjacent to the Bridge Drive junction with the A41
asking them not to park near the junction.

Wyldewood Delivery Vehicles Parking on the A41
PCSO will post notices on any vehicles partly parking on the A41 and on the verge.

Grid Monitoring
Cllr Beckitt congratulated Gill Brown, Village Assistant, on her work of reducing
the number of blocked grids from 34 to 21.

b) Village Road – Traffic Issues
Congestion on Village Road has been an ongoing concern for the Parish Council for a considerable length of time. The Parish Council produced and designed a PLANIT scheme to address this and other traffic issues in the village which was approved by the village in a referendum. However, because of funding issues it is envisaged that simpler fixes will be installed such as flashing lights and signage for pedestrian/cycle priority. Cllr Beckitt will respond to the residents who raised the above issues.

c) To receive ISTFF update
Nothing to report at this meeting

d) To receive Air Quality Report
As part of response to CWAC’s development of a Strategic Business Case for A41 Trooper’s Bridge the Parish Council drew attention to the fact that PM2.5 and NO2 levels all along the A41 SUP are many times over the guideline safe levels for schoolchildren and residents.
