Traffic & Safety Updates – November’24
Bridge Drive Parking
Obstructive parking at the end of Bridge Drive, adjacent to the A41 – residents continue
to have difficulty turning into Bridge Drive off the A41. The approach agreed was, in the first instance, to ask the PCSO to communicate with the owners of the vehicles requesting they park further down the road away from the A41.
There may be a case for placing a white line against the drop-down curb for the footpath that runs along the A41. It was noted that CWACs removal of the local highways budget had meant that repainting of the critical worn-out road markings on the entrance to Bridge Drive and along the adjacent A41 had been delayed until April next year.
Pedestrian Crossing Near to High School
To discuss request from local resident for installation of pedestrian crossing in vicinity of High School.
A child was nearly knocked down by a speeding car in front of the High School. The site had been visited with the parent and a meeting arranged with the Headteacher in this connection.
Village Assistant Report
It was noted that the Village Assistant was collecting 3 to 4 bags of litter every week from the Village. This included nitrous oxide gas canisters from Birch Heath Lane, Rake Lane and by the Trooper.
The Village Assistant had also reported that the number of entirely blocked road grids had dropped from 32 to 27 with some improvement in critical locations. Notably the grids around the Primary School have been cleared but water was still not getting away fast enough to avoid flooding – there was concern that we were not aware of a plan by CWAC or Welsh Water to remove the restriction.
