  • A subsequent consultation on specific details will follow; however, this phase will determine whether the Green Belt in the area remains unchanged or is developed.
  • Register on this page. Registration and login options are available. The process takes less than five minutes. You can save and return to complete later if you need to.
  • Use our suggested text or write your own. Personalised responses are best. You can answer as many questions as you like, but you don’t have to answer all of them.
  • Elected Councillors at Cheshire West and Chester Council (rather than at the Parish level) will make the final decision, so it is important to let your Councillor know your views directly Find your Councillor here. This should be a non-party political issue and it is important we build a consensus.

Most important points to make

These are the most important points to make, but refer to the larger document for more detail and suggestions about answering some of the other questions.

Question IN 1                  Do you agree that this is the right evidence?

We think the borough should prepare a comprehensive urban capacity study that would identify brownfield land in the urban areas and opportunities for intensification, particularly in areas with good public transport or the potential to provide good walking and cycling to reduce the need for travel, and regenerate left-behind urban communities

Question SS 11               Which option which is the most appropriate spatial strategy:

Option A – Retain the Green Belt.

Question SS 14               Do you feel that Option A is an appropriate spatial strategy?

Yes. This is the only option that protects our communities and encourages the regeneration needed in other parts of the borough.

We are concerned that the Council may select a ‘hybrid’ option of ‘A’ plus elements of the other options. To be clear, this would NOT be ‘Option A’ and we and completely opposed to a compromise that would actually mean significant development in the Green Belt

Question SS 22              Do you have any other comments or suggestions you wish to make about our approach to identifying potential growth areas or allocations

Grey Belt – we do not consider that any of the Green Belt land around Chester constitutes the new definition of ‘Grey Belt’. It all makes a significant contribution to Green Belt purposes.

Question SS 24              Do you have any further comments about any of the potential growth areas identified around Chester?

CH02. This site should not be removed from the Green Belt or allocated for development.

Make known your views about traffic congestion, air quality, the ability of local facilities and infrastructure (roads, schools, healthcare, etc) to cope with additional housing – more details in our main document.

Follow-up

Once you have made your response, let your local elected representatives know. The most important is your local ward borough Councillor. You can find your Cheshire West & Cheshire Council Councillor here. If there is more than one, email to all of them for your ward.
