Cllr Beckitt showed Kathy McArdle around the Village highlighting the areas/issues of concern
including:-
- Traffic congestion in the centre of the village
- State of the footpath in front of the Primary School
- Destruction of the orchard at the former College of Law development and subsequent
planning in principle application for a very large residential property - Inadequate capacity of A41 hamburger and A51 junction
- Design and landscaping of Retirement Village
- Flooding issues at both Primary and Secondary schools
- TPO process of trees in Christleton Conservation Area
Ms McArdle confirmed that the processes for accessing S106 monies is currently being reviewed by
a CWAC team lead by Rob Charnley. She also confirmed that part of her remit is the devolving of
Cheshire and Warrington into a Combined Authority with Mayoral elections being held in May 2026.
b) To discuss possible joint project with Tattenhall and Waverton Parish Councils and Canal
River Trust to extend and resurface canal towpath
Cllr Beckitt to attend combined meeting with Tattenhall and Waverton Parish Councils and CRT to
explore possibility of a joint project to improve the towpath from Christleton and Waverton through
to Tattenhall, but with the proviso that it should not detract from the ongoing efforts to resurface
the towpath from Great Boughton to Christleton to provide a safe cycle route for schoolchildren.
